Surface Preparation:

  • Floor should be dry and free of dirt and oil. Remove oil with solvent. This is not like regular epoxy, so long as your floor is reasonably clean it will adhere. This step is especially important if you have sanded or used a grinder on your floor as it may take multiple passes to thoroughly clean. A cloth damp with solvents is an effective method of removing microscopic dust particles after vacuuming. DO NOT USE WATER! The surface temperature at time of installation and until cured can not drop below 60° F or the cure will be significantly slowed.

  • Peeling, loose, or damaged paint must be removed with a rotary floor grinder. Wire brushing and vacuuming may suffice in most situations however there are serious risks to coating over old coatings. EpoArmor is intended for installation over uncoated, unsealed cement. Prior coatings, sealers and patches may effect performance.

  • Please ask us about out crack filler and how you can use EpoArmor to fill minor cracks. DO NOT use another brand of crack filler or patching cement without checking with us first.

Application:

1. Mixing: Mix EpoArmor Epoxy using a 1:1 ration of Part A to Part B. For Simplicity, we recommend mixing one gallon of Part A with One Gallon of Part B

2. DO NOT LEAVE THE PRODUCT IN THE CAN OR IT WILL CURE VERY FAST. Each gallon covers a little under 67 Square Feet* When you mix the part A and the Part B you will have two gallons . Take the mixed contents and pour them onto the clean concrete in one or two areas such that (a) you will be able to reach the area coated without walking on it and (b) you will be able to move onto the next area and eventually out of the garage without walking on the epoxy. REMEMBER:

3. Spreading : Use short nap roller to distribute EpoArmor Epoxy over the concrete in the areas in which you have poured the mixed epoxy. Again, make sure you will be able to reach these areas for the next step.

4. Broadcasting: Open the bag of Color Flakes. Broadcast the flakes over the coated area to taste.

5. Repeat steps 1-3 for the balance of the kit(s) you have purchased. Allow Epoxy to Cure.

6. Clean: If the floor has become dirty during the sweeping or vacuuming process use a damp (NOT WET) cloth to remove any dust or dirt. Allow to dry. LET IT DRY COMPLETELY

7. Apply urethane following directions on can. 1 Mixed kit of Urethane should cover a much greater area then one epoxy kit. If you apply the urethane thicker you will get a smoother surface which will be easier to clean but may be slick when wet. Sealer can be applied the following day. The purpose of the sealer is to produce a more level surface that will retain less dirt and facilitate cleaning. DO NOT APPLY THE URETHANE TO THICK OR YOU MAY HAVE ISSUES.

Important Notes:

  • This product is self leveling
  • Do not leave product in the can after mixing even for a minute
  • Once you start the installation process, do not stop unless it is for health reasons. The epoxy will start to set immediately.
  • We recommend using two people so that one person can take over if the other gets tired
  • DO NOT SPRAY, THIN OR INHALE THIS PRODUCT. ENSURE PROPER VENTILATION. REFER TO MSDS SHEETS FOR ALL PROPER SAFETY PRECAUTIONS.
Curing time is 45 minutes to 2 hours depending on climate when the product is poured on the floor. Curing time is 5-15 minutes when left in a container.
  • Curing: Allow application to cure overnight.
  • EpoArmor, LLC has not and can not test all patching, sealing, cleaning, etching and coating products on the market and therefore can not make a blanket statement as to the compatibility of EpoArmor with any other product.

WARNING: A Urethane Coated Epoxy System can be very slippery when wet. We highly recommend using a minimum of 2 pounds of color flakes per 200 square feet. Additionally, if the floor is still slick we recommend following the urethane manufacturers directions for aggregate. directions

*Coverage based on a smooth surface. Cracks, davits and irregular or porous surfaces will change your spread rate.

Installing EpoArmor over Previously Coated, sealed or patched Substrates

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

While we strive to provide a quality and easy to install garage floor epoxy, we do not recommend nor do we warranty any application over any substrate other than uncoated and unsealed concrete without prior written consent form EpoArmor, LLC. While EpoArmor will adhere to many previously painted, patched or sealed surfaces there is simply no way for us to determine the quality and make of the product you are coating over. While EpoArmor will stick to most coatings, if the old coating is brittle or lacking in adhesion, the curing process may cause the old coating to come loose and EpoArmor will come loose with it. If your floor has been coated, sealed or patched we require that you grind (not sand) the floor completely before installing our product if you want a warranty.

If, at your own risk, you decide to coat your floor as is, we highly recommend that you mix two cups of part A epoxy and two cups of part B Epoxy and apply over a test area in your garage. While this will not guarantee that your previous coating will not cause issues , it greatly improves the likelihood of your success.
